Ever heard the phrase "Be a Traveler, not a Tourist"? What does that really mean?
For me, it means to travel this world, travel from here to there to everywhere in between and never stop breathing it in. It means to look beyond your hotel room. Go outside. Take a walk through the non-touristy part of town. Find the little hidden gems in a city you've never been to. Attempt the language, and keep attempting it until you've learned at least five phrases. Do something the natives do that you'd never do. Go surfing, skydiving, tarzan swinging, kayaking. People watch. Learn the customs. Have conversations with the locals at cafes, street corners, bakeries, museums. Absorb the art, let it move you. Tutor a local in your own native language. Respect the culture. Dress in the native clothes. Do a tribal dance. Live without electricity or water for a day. Experience life changing moments. Sit at the top of a mountain overlooking a beautiful city. Hike up a volcano. Scuba dive into the unknown territory of the sea.
Explore. Discover. Dream. Jump. Live. Immerse. BREATHE LIFE IN.
Don't just go on vacation to stay in a hotel room. You might as well have stayed home.
